PHOTO CONTEST: “HIT US WITH YOUR BEST SHOT”
Camera bugs can enter their best photos into the Rutland Park Community Photo Contest to be held at the 2008 community fair. This contest is open to amateur community photographers only. There will be three categories for submissions: People, Places and Pets, and three age categories: children up to age 12, teens (age 13 – 17) and adults (18 and up).
There is no fee to submit your photos and entries will be judged by a panel of community members. A total of nine prizes will be awarded.
Drop your photos off during the week of September 15th to Isabelle at K691 in Sarcee Meadows Housing Co-op or at the Hall on Friday, September 19th between 6:30 – 7:30pm. Photos submitted should be good quality 4 x 6 or 5 x 7 prints and be mounted on black paper (1 inch boarder). Judging will be done on Friday night and the photos put on display during the Fair.
Call Isabelle at 403-242–6334 for contest details.

PETER PUFFIN is a Rutland Park Fair essential. He is connected to our community through board member, Gord Leach and has performed at both the 2006 and 2007 Community Fairs. Peter Lenton, aka Peter Puffin is an award winning, guitar slinging, singer / songwriter and educator who performs about 200 concerts per year in parks, schools and communities all across Canada and internationally. His shows deliver a light-hearted message about taking responsibility for the environment and delight audiences of all ages. This year, Peter is pleased to announce the release of his newest CD which will be available for purchase at the Fair. For more information about Peter, his music and his shows check out www.puffin.ca.

TOM PHILLIPS is another local treasure. Tom and his wife, Jasmine, live in Rutland Park and enjoy being an active part of the community. Tom’s band, The Men of Constant Sorrow, includes bass player, Dan Patton, who is also a long time RP resident. The band has played all over North America and is considered Calgary’s #1 Country band. They regularly play the Ironwood Stage and Grill in Inglewood and have released 5 CDs. The RPCA is proud to have Tom and the MOCS returning for a second year to be part of the entertainment featured at the 2008 Community Fair. With neighbours like these, our toes need never stop tapping!! For more information on the band and their up coming shows, check out the website at www.tomphillipsmocs.com.
